I had first heard this piece upon a violin solo arranged by Heinrich Wilhelm Ernst. I had then heard Franz Liszt's piano arrangement, and then lastly Franz Schubert's magnificent lied created for this equally great poem. When I had read the poem, however, my eyes had started to water, and then I slightly cried.
