Picked this up to take on holiday, the cover illustration intrigued me so I took a chance on a new author (to me). Set in Victorian London and Essex it's a story of myth, medical science, faith, social issues and an unconventional love triangle of sorts! A great story based on historical local folklore. The author gives her characters complete realism and their complex relationships give the reader an insight into their personal. I only gave 4 stars as I would have preferred a conclusion rather than a somewhat open ending but excellent nonetheless!
