The only good thing about Infiesto is the cinematography. The dreamy scenes with the consistent dim lighting. Otherwise seemed like someone decided to make a film but then sort of gave up once they began. All seemed very casual and by the way, very blah. The storyline and script was insipid and the actors were just put in there cuz they had to. And the pandemic was also put in btw, with no role or impact on the story. Heck, they didn’t even wear masks and the lockdown didn’t resemble a lockdown. It wasn’t a bad move, tolerable I suppose, but had a good potential that was wasted. Avoid it. Unless you have other options to bore yourself with.

What a mind blowing performance by the lead actor! The movie is slow in the beginning, it can feel like a docu-drama at times. The theme and story get darker and the many villains are revealed by the end. The story is not one individual’s struggle but a collective one which you realize later on, it’s about perspective, you feel less for the one missing girl in the sense that you see so many tales of torment. People are not numbers, a reminder by the filmmakers in the end. But for the authorities they are just that. I felt the helplessness of those seeking closure and justice and disbelief that this is a harsh reality in so many countries. That’s the difference a well made film can make- the news of Mexico’s drug cartels gunning down a dozen women recently didn’t hit me the way this story and presentation did.
