Overall we really enjoyed this movie...beautifully filmed and well acted. A good storyline and incredible cinematography and action. If you like a movie to have an upbeat ending, this isn't for you. The overwhelming feeling is of despair and frustration that the Great War was so utterly pointless and ultimately little other than a tragic waste of life on an epic scale. Most wars are like that...a sordid mix of bravery, futility, obedience and death. However, I recommend this movie as it doesn't glamourise the Great War and illustrates how truly awful it was for so many young people.
