I knew Kokan personally. We often walked home together from Cine Club Belgrade and discussed film problems. He was an inventor and a very brave one. It was hard in Communist controlled film industry to speak out for yourself. If you wanted to make a movie, it had to glorify the ruling party. Kokan had invented the way how to circumnavigate it. He was one of inventors of Yugoslavia's Black Cinema. At the time, it was an effort equivalent to a war hero status!
