As someone who loves the original movies, 70's-80's themed sci-fi, ethical quandary in shows and hates parasites, this really hit the spot. I couldn't stop after the first episode. The writing is not bad by any stretch, and some of the plot is bizarre, but not without reason. All of the the themes and subtext are fun, especially the tie ins with Peter Pan, which made me think deeper about the show and the book Peter Pan. I usually see through most of the plot within the set-up to the show, but I didn't see much coming until it was already too late, which was very refreshing. And as someone who very rarely gets scared or anxious over horror, this got me hands down. The dread I felt every time an alien was on screen was immense! The amount of shivers and twitches while watching were like nothing before. It may not be full-blown-scream-worthy-scary, but the thoughts teeming with parasites will linger long after I've noticed things that have made people angry after watching, and I will say there are a lot of easy to miss details... SPOILER WARNING: I've seen people confused, or who missed a bit say things like 'why did the first responders have rifles when responding to the crash', well if you pay close attention in the later half, boy kavalier actually knew about the aliens in the yutani's ship, because he was the one who paid to bring down the ship, and he wanted the aliens for himself. So of course he armed his guards who he knew would be hunting aliens. I hope the people who didn't like the show, but truly love the alien series, give it a second chance, because on a rewatch it might just click :)

Sea of thieves was great and I've been playing for 2 years now, now it's the only game I've left a one star review on. Like the rest of these reviews, I really love the game and want to keep playing but I think the pvp gotten out of hand and devs don't care. Also definitely don't listen to anyone telling you to ignore other reviews ;) we're all just people trying to enjoy the same game <3 I myself have Loved pirates since I can remember and have dressed as one for almost every Halloween, I even look somewhat like a pirate irl. So naturally I fell in love with this game instantly, and is by far the best pirate game I've played. I Loved the pvp when I started, never bothered me and it fit the pirate theme. You're all pirates trying to vie for control of the most treasure! but the difference is now we get actual griefing which I didnt think was possible in this game... A game about pillaging. They disable our ship, board, repeatedly kill us and repair the ship so we can't respawn anywhere else, all of this while we have zero loot on board. My crew had never experienced anything like this until the last few months and now it happens fairly often. When this happens the only way out is to quit. No other pvp game I've played has systems that allow that! Most other pvp games have at least temporary invincibility on respawn or other safeguards. And before you say anything about safer seas, the -30% xp debuff and walled of content/quests should speak for themselves. You can't even use the ships you bought and customized, even though customization is almost all you can spend your money on. On top of that you can't meet new friends on the safer sea which is the best part of the game, I met a friend of almost 2 years on sea of theives. Multiple times we've accepted random crew and just chatted the night away, not nearly as often anymore though. No one wants to be punished for trying to have fun in a game, they'd rather play a different game unfortunately. If safer seas was more fleshed out, or a new online pacifist or low pvp damage mode would make a lot of people happy. If you call all the reviews like this unfounded, you're missing a big concern from a decent portion of the games audience... Aka the people you play with or the people who'd buy the game in the future. I previously gave this game a 5/5, I'm not a hater, I love the game and so do the majority of negative reviewers and I feel that should make it easier to understand where we're coming from. We just want to have fun like old times
