If you like a true adventure my recommendation would be to read the book and not waste time watching the movie. The book is beautifully written. The most interesting and exciting things that the crew experienced were not filmed if only barely spoken of in the movie. Also, the characters in the movie were not exactly interpreted as their characters in the book. The end of the book that described their life with the islanders was very endearing and I felt it a shame that this was not portrayed in the film.

One of the best films ever. In spite of it’s age it is still captivating with a meaningful story. Charlton Heston portrays a great character that would behoove many people of this day and time to emulate for his bravery, caring, love for others, and strength of commitment. The chariat scene has to be one of Hollywood’s greatest accomplishments especially for the time in which it was filmed. It is as fascinating today as it was in 1959. A must see if you enjoy the “old” movies.
