I’ve never read the book, but I knew by the title that the authors underlying message must have been founded in Scripture from the book of Hosea. Sure enough it was, and so much more than it needed to be.
I appreciated the authors desire to reveal the ugliness of prostitution and sex trafficking, however, the amount of skin and graphic sexual scenes displayed were cringe worthy. I did not need to see Angel half naked in order to understand how awful sexual sin is. If anything, sexual predators will be drawn to this movie.
The supposed love scenes with her husband were simply lust filled, not even an ounce of romance. I was embarrassed to be in the movie theater. I mean, even, “Breaking Dawn,” part two’s sex/love scenes were tastefully done and it was a secular movie.
The best part of the entire movie was Michael. He embodied God’s character and loved Angel no matter what. Even forgiving what we would see as the unforgivable.
This movie had so much potential and I really wanted to like it. I learned a lesson though, read reviews instead of blindly trusting a movie inspired by scripture.
It’s sad to see that many Christians believe they need to cater to sin in order to reach the lost. That’s not what Jesus did.
Jesus is the one that saves the lost. Christians should share His word, but we cannot save anyone, only He can. Stay true to who He is and let Him handle the rest.
