“The Queen’s Gambit” is the most electrifying viewing experience I’ve encountered on Netflix or on any other platform, including the movie theater—such rich character development and a storyline that stays with you long after each episode. I can’t say enough about the quality of the acting. The lead, Anya Joy-Taylor, is magnificent. She is the freshest, most interesting actress to come along in many years and is destined for stardom. Joy-Taylor’s greatest strength is her ability to portray both vulnerability and strength simultaneously. The supporting actors—most of them “unknowns”—deserve praise as well. To a person, they play memorable characters, even with the smaller parts. You must see “The Queen’s Gambit.” You won’t be disappointed! By the way, you don’t need to know anything about chess to appreciate this marvelous production. (However, you may find yourself at the mall looking for a nice chess set.)
