You have to be a Spaniard, or at the very least pretend to understand the culture, history and politics of Spain to truly get La Casa de Papel/Money Heist. It is not a cliche, Hollywood-like sequel of a high tech cheese Paella robbery. Instead, it is a story of rebellion, a story of love, a story of struggle against the establishment, against the institutions. It is a story of ingenuity and intellectual freedom. A story of inspirational cultural diversity within Spain and across the world. A story of love and family—my neighborhood, my people—people from different backgrounds who care for each other no matter what, people who protect each other, people who opt to rebel because they have nowhere else to go. A story of people who use the system against the system because the system has failed them. It is a story of humanity across generations and social standings. I watched every episode with passion. Walk the streets of Madrid and you will understand. Outstanding show!
