I love that this show addresses important social justice issues like homophobia and racism. I especially like how it explores more subtle nuances of these problems such as when Florida's racism prevents her relationship with hap from developing further. However, I strongly dislike the show's pessimistic, negative bias. I thought the end of the 3rd season was gratuitously negative with Florida's death. Too much ugliness, too little hope seems to be a theme with this show. Life is hard enough. I don't need my entertainment to depress me too.
