Made me cry, like three diff times. The buoyant optimism of the mother in the face of utter tragedy and destruction up until the last scene. There is something so endless, comforting, and hopeful in the mother’s love. it’s moving really.

I wanted to love this movie, so bad. But it is sloooooow. I thought Colson Baker would have a larger role in the film, based off the previews. He is magnetic, and his small screen time is the best part of the film. Fox is just ok. She has so much potential. I can’t wait to see her in a role that does her proper! Even the music is bad lol. Poor Willis tags along for the ride and looks whiney and lost. Edit: One thing I do really like, Emile Hirsch. Great acting.

Dang, Megan is so beautiful. Came for the Fox, who I love. SO glad to see Hollywood finally giving her, her due, and casting her in roles. one thing I couldn’t get past. When she goes for the vase to retrieve her phone, I seriously thought she was gonna break the vase and make a tool to cut his hand off. That’s what I woulda done. “Gerald’s Game” style.

“The only way out is down.” This movie is sure to become a cult classic. I love this movie. It has an underlying richness. The filmmakers are geniuses. I can see how some casual viewers might miss the main points, and won’t understand or try to understand what’s happening, therefore giving the movie an undeserved bad rating. ***Spoilers***** For example, after the group discovers the philosophers stone, they go down into a hole in the ground. They have now entered Hell and everything is in reverse. Even gravity becomes reversed. So while it appears that they are traveling down deeper, they are in reality climbing up and out of the catacombs. That’s why they push, instead of pull, on the manhole cover that’s on the ground, at the end. Everything is opposite. All this was completely lost on my viewing companion. Underrated.

I didn’t think this movie was very scary while I was watching it, but now I can’t stop thinking about it.
