Dr Phil,
I am a retired health and life insurance agent. I use a local an very informative medicare supplement agent, that keeps up with all the changes concerning medicare and their supplements. She offers both Original Medicare supplements and Advantage Medicare supplements with all the horns and whistles.
What the public doesn't understand about Medicare Advantage plans is their is another choice especially if your medical bills are 2,000 or more every month. . I have monthly infusions costing between 5,000 to 7,000. I found I save alot more with an Original medicare supplement.
Advantage plans would cost me thousands of dollars more in co-pays. So my advice is ask about the Original Medicare supplement too! Especially if you already have reocurring .medical care. In some states its hard to qualify for the Original supplement during open enrollment. Advantage plans are good for healthier 65 plus people. Their are stand alone dental and eye glass plans if you need one. I just don't want people like myself to lose their original supplement for the well advertised Advantages plans. . In many states they may have to medically qualify to get the Original Medicare supplement coverage back or be buried in co-pays year after year on a Advantage plans.
Check with a local medicare insurance agent, so your plan fits your medical bills and health conditions.Original Medicare supplements are not advertised. It easy to flip seniors over the phone in a rush to make a sale. Some are just scripted telemarketers. Hurrying people before the deadline to make a decision. They have no idea what plan your currently on. Beware.
I think the otherside of the picture needed to be known. The agent on the show didnt present the Original supplement option. .
