In a recent program Pat Goss the resident mechanical guru on the program showed some badly corroded fuel management modules. He stated that the modules had become corroded to the point of failure due to being mounted in the rear on a frame rail of some pickup trucks. He stated that they became corroded due to debris such as salt and dirt getting stuck between the module and the frame. I don't think they got that way from debris, but rather a chemical reaction between the aluminum case on the module and the steel frame rail. He said the replacement part comes with rubber standoff washers to keep debris from building up behind it. however the washers also keep electrolysis from occurring.
