Show is very similar to Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch where a lot of the story and events are explained by the main character just being a genius instead actually showing the thought process of the character or how they came to this conclusion. Instead this character has this almost clairvoyant ability to know exactly what will happen even though most of the things he predicts just seem to be him getting lucky but the show insists that he planned everything from the beginning. Ironically this very issue is perfectly symbolized by show's representation of chess in the series where characters play and make moves that reflect their overall strategy in the big picture, but funny enough just like how they don't really justify how all these asinine plans work, they refuse to show any of the actual chess game and instead will only show the incredibly 1 in a million chance result. I'm specifically alluding to the scene where Lelouch wins by using his king in a way that shouldn't even work considering the rules of chess but it just does cause he's Lelouch. i would actually rather watch a chess game than this show.
