If you're looking for a hero's journey sort of film, you're in for a whole lot of disappointment, so I'm just going to TL;DR for you here: after leaving his village to go on a quest to become a samurai, he got swindled into selling his swords for more money, got roped into a war where he cowardly hid somewhere until it ends, had the chance to save some people but he ran away instead, when he got back to his village he lied to his neighbours and friends about his involvement, he then got a couple of people killed because he trusted the wrong people (he's really dumb), had to have his ass saved by his childhood friend (who if I'm not mistaken, died in the end as well), etc.
After 2 hours of this rubbish, he became a master steelmaker. What a whole load of horseshit right? Even an Adam Sandler film focusing on a loser character (played by himself) is more entertaining than this garbage.
