The photographs take you to the scenes and the interviews with the NYPD officers are candid. The compassion, concern, and camaraderie, the sadness and the triumphs, the fears and the satisfaction of being a "street cop" are laid bare. It ought to be mandatory reading for all police executives and city administrators.

Interesting (though hardly original) premise but the acting is at best mediocre and the writers apparently have no real idea where they're going. They seem to be just desperately throwing stuff at the wall and hoping that some of it sticks. I'll give the new season a chance but if the scripting doesn't get a lot better, and the actors' performances more believable, I'm done with it.
