The book is a real pageturner and compulsive reading. I found some of the astrological reasoning hard going at times but easily overcome by the complex plot, its final twists and the developing characterisation of Strike and Robin. The complaints of transphobic bias are nonsense and must have been written by some who have not read the book, as mentions of crossdressing of one of the characters are minimal and relate to the use of female disguise as a lure for victims. There were a couple of references to Robin consultng the 1961 census to obtain information about characters, which is impossible given the 100 year closure on census returns. This error surprised me, but the overall excellence of the novel made it less important. Looking forward to the next one!
