This is presumptively a teen read. It is about a teen girl's reasons for killing herself, and her outreach to and revenge on those who wronged her. It is thought provoking and sensational. It sort-of shows how people's selfish or thoughtless actions affect others. It even has something of a redemptive ending. However, 1. There is a disturbingly detailed description of a "date rape." The details do not develop the story, just dark and gratuitous sex-talk. There is also a lot of other sexualized discussion. 2. It is pretty dark. This girl's experiences are believable, but a lot to put on young adult readers. The girl who commits suicide focuses on revenge, retribution. It is hard for young readers to wade through this. It may add to a reader's own depression long before s/he can get to the (small) glimmer of redemptive hope at the end. 3. It also can leave those readers with suicidal ideation with the impression that if they take their own life, they will have a louder voice than if they stay alive. This really seems more like Jerry Springer tabloid spectacle than like a fun or educational read. Not recommended for young readers or for anyone with depression/suicidal ideation, or really anyone.
