She-Ra, was originally a show that I would’ve skipped at first glance. However, I heard that She-Ra had really good LGBT representation and I wanted to check it out. While the former is true, it’s not why I love the show. I became emotionally invested because of Catra. Catra, is a complex character, and the show gets pretty dark, showing the psychological effects of abuse, in a very well written and mature way. I felt that I could really understand and connect with Catra, because Shadow Weaver was very much akin to my own mother.
