While pretty to look at, this remake loses all the charm of the original by making Mulan a freak of nature instead of an average but smart woman. Combat that was not fantastical enough to read like stylization and not realistic enough to read that way either just felt jumbled and flat. And forget character development - chi is a cheap stand in.
