I recently watched Hacksaw Ridge (2016, Andrew Garfield) movie with family and although it was too gory and sexually explicit in my opinion, it really made me think deeply about war and the negative effects it has on humanity. I think there are still major changes that are needed to ensure we don't have wars like WWII in the future. First, I think people need to realize and talk about the fact that all humans have equal value, regardless of gender, race, religion, or sexual orientation. Regardless of which soldier dies on what side, they have a family, possibly a spouse and children. No one wins in the end. War is bad for humanity. One way we can increase world peace is to have denuclearization for all countries. Another is to empower the UN peacekeeping army to be more powerful than any single country in the world. Currently the UN peacekeeping force is just a joke and doesn't have any influence in the world. There have many genocides under the UN's eye, including Rwanda in the 20th century and currently with Uyghur Muslims in China. Also, weapons need to be reduced in the world. Automatic weapons and machine guns should be banned for war. Police should have non lethal weapons. I think video games that promote violence like Halo, Gears of War, and Call of Duty should be illegal because they immunize people to violence on a very unconscious level. You may or may not agree with some of the things I have listed above but I think it is important to get the discussion started and to acknowledge that humanity needs to take steps to ensure the tragedies that happened in the 20th century don't repeat themselves in the 21st
