Elisabeth Moss as Shirley was incredible and perhaps the best performance I've seen in a decade. I'd seen her in Madmen and a couple other things -- and appreciated her skill -- but this movie showcased her genius as an actor. Shirley the movie was captivating, bizarre and interesting ... 7.5/10. I'd give Moss a 10/10.

Pretty good, not great. Any time there could have been more interesting story or character development, there was sex ... and more sex. Probably better for younger people, closer to college age. Surprised Rotten Tomatoes gave it an 86%. I'd give it a 68%.

I am loving this series and do not understand the poor reviews. Yes, this Dickens classic has been told before but this has been done with a creatively unique and deep hand. The acting is very good and the setting/scenery is beautiful. I think Dickens would be proud of this interpretation, and the actors' performances.
