I read in one of the reviews that this movie is based off a game. I don't really play a lot of games, except one or two on Netflix or online etc. As a movie I really enjoyed it. The fantasy aspect was on par with a lot of the great ones, Narnia, Shang Chi, Along with the Gods, Space Sweepers, I watched it with my 8 year old niece and she loved it. She cried about the fight scene with the women in the cage and cried when that woman and Jingang died. She enjoyed Dong Yilong's antics. I really liked the comradery between the characters in the story. If the movie is realised I have no doubts that the potential it delivered in the first instalment will exceed itself in the following movies. It has Disney type vibes and no doubts children will enjoy it just as much as adults. Henry Lau as an entertainer is on point for the character of Dong Yilong. As young as Lin Chen Han is she played her part really well. I believed these characters could be real people and a family two older brothers and a younger sister. As to the plot, it started simply, an eight year old could follow, it was late at night but insisted she wasn't tired but not so simple that I as an adult lost interest. Dong Yilong dealt with his trials without losing his positivity or his kindness. He could achieve what he wanted without compromising himself or selling anyone out. Maybe in two and three his trials might get more complicated...I hope not so much that it loses that balance it has in the first movie. TBH I'm confused as to why people gave one or two stars, yet watched the entire movie...or was the one or two stars just from the first two seconds lol...
