Let me preface by saying i NEVER give any kind of opinion or review online. I think everyone has different tastes, and that everyone is entitled to it's own tastes. Nothing wrong with that.
That being said, this is hand down the absolute worst movie i've ever seen. It's pointless, vulgar, and without any kind of actual message. I genuinely don't understand how so many people thought this movie was even average, let alone good.
While the premise is excellent, the concept fascinating, and the subject of self image (as a women especially) leading to self destruction pertinent and worth talking about, the way this joke of a movie tells it is nothing short than an absolutely ridiculous joke.
The good:
- Interesting concept
- Demi Moore and Margaret Quailey did their best with what they had.
- The body horror is pretty gross, and I mean that in a good way. Kudos.
The bad:
- No clue what people think so high of the cinematography, there are so many overly exagerated plans, lacking any kind of subtely. Like the manager eating shrimps in the most un-human way possible just to show "boo manager bad and evil and don't care about women" ? I get that it's supposed to make you have a reaction, to make you uneasy, personally it just made me feel some first grade cringe. It's just so caricatural, i don't understand how you're supposed to feel anything real.
- The last part which could've been almost comical a la Tarantino seens to take itself way too seriously and that makes is pointless and just gross for every sense.
- The characters are just one dimensional blocks, maybe with the exception of Liz/Sue, but even for her, all the interesting psychological questions and dilemnas are left in the same trashbag as the chicken carcass.
- The hypersexualisation of women is turned to 11 and made me think that I was just watching some extremely weird and badly shot softcore p0rn.
I've forced myself to finish the movie even though but the end of hour one i was already willing to just stop, because i really wanted to see where this was going. I really was willing to give it a chance, and I did, and in the end, i have no idea what was the point or message of this absolutely disgusting and pointless cringefest.
That's just my opinion, but again, BY FAR the very worst movie i have every seen in my 30+ years in this planet. Just ugh.
