Overall it was a good movie, not great, or mind-blowing, but decently good entertainment. Definitely not "movie-of-the-year" material, but I do think there's a lot to like as well. Here are some quick takes I had (Just my opinion!!! Relax):
- Didn't have to be as long as it was
- Sound effects and (most of) the musical score were really good and added to the creepy atmosphere a lot
-They shouldn't have done the extended trailers prior to release, It gave away too much and kind of spoiled certain parts of the movie, but I guess I didn't have to watch that trailer...so this one's partially my fault
- Acting was decent overall, I just wish OJ had more prominence in the movie dialogue-wise, I know he was meant to be the quiet, brooding-type character, but at times, it felt like this was a Keke Palmer movie (and her acting was not as good as Dan Kaluuya in this)
- Interesting twist on the "UFO" concept... I guess
- Found this to be one of those kinds of movies where it's super-captivating in the beginning and rising action when you don't really know what's going on at first and everything is still somewhat mysterious; but when you start to figure stuff out (which may be pretty early on) it gets a little disappointing and formulaic
- Has a cool subplot that ends up going nowhere though (unless he's planning a sequel?)
- Glad I saw it in theatre because I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much on a smaller screen environment, because atmosphere and sound effects were such a big contributor to the suspense-factor, the theatrical experience really played into that well
Ultimately, I think this was a film with some cool ideas with potential...that ends up somehow being less than the sum of it's parts
