As a 2005 kid I grew up watching these movies. These are my comfort movies. I know every line and scene from every movie and series by heart and I was honestly really let down by this movie. The animation is great and the dragons look fantastic but the casting left a lot to be desired. Hiccup looked the part but lacked the talent to play this role. His character is supposed be awkward but he made his awkwardness just awkward and a little difficult for me to watch, and he was too tall. Astrid’s actress was great as the character she really embodies the strong female worrier Astrid is portrayed as but I struggled a little with her look. They focused far too much on Snotlouts relationship with his dad for some reason and don’t even get me started on Ruffnut… all I’m gonna say is they could have at least tried to make Ruffnut and Tuffnut look alike. Stoick was fantastic, voice was perfect and everything. All over I’m not very impressed with it. Had a lot of potential but I just felt like it was just too hollow and lacked a lot of the details that made the original movie so great.
