I think they left the ending really badly, a major part of the plot was that the older couple no longer lived in the ‘lake side house’ and that the Dad still owned the property land, and they finish the movie on the couple deciding to live with their daughter. I think they missed out on a very good ending opportunity. Dissapointed.
