Very good film well acted and historically accurate. The living and working conditions should make all Americans appreciate how we currently live. These folks were a TOUGH bunch! Would be a good film for high school kids to see. The scenery is definitely Pennsylvania, and the mining scenes are gritty and realistic. This is an fine movie, well acted and well paced. See it!

Isn't this cultural appropriation? It's kind of like a white Four Tops or James Brown. It was a ridiculous idea. The songs are bad and the acting is sub par. Stick with the original, a real classic...On a related note, I hear there is a remake of Porgy and Bess featuring poor Swedish immigrants.

Bram Stoker is turning over in his grave for this version of his novel. Dracula and Mina were never lovers. Moreover, he couldn't parade around daytime London looking like a hippie from 1968. Keanu Reeves needs to go to acting school, he seemed out of place and wooden. Hopkins gives his usual good performance. The costumes and sets are very good as are the special effects. Also special shout-out to Tom Wait's Renfield. Just saying, if you've read the novel be prepared for gratuitous Hollywood nonsense...

One of my favorite films. It has a compelling story line with great acting and beautiful scenery. There is a poetic poignancy in this film that is timeless. I've seen this film five or six times over the years and each time I am left with a feeling of a beautiful sadness. I highly recommend this movie it still is wonderful after all this time.
