It was high intensity, emotionally raw, hard to watch, and excruciatingly real like watching a train wreck. Sandler creates a character you know is making all the bad decisions for wrong reasons and will never be redeemed and you still root for him because everyone is out for their own and horrible. It is unsettling. Phenomenally characterized.
