The 42nd rainbow division task force linden liberated 30,000 prisoners at Dachau 1945 with the 45th and another division. my grandfather was in the 42nd. In 1944 1945 The camp was surrendered to Lynden. sparks was in charge of searching and guarding the building. A prisoners committee was secretly selected days before the arrival and we’re also there at dachau. The day they were liberated Americans let the prisoners kill the SS guards. they got what they deserved. the American seen the women and children piled up bodies, bones and flesh. That kind of evil needed to be exterminated off the face of the Earth and the SS had executed a large amount of Americans. They shouldn’t portray the 45 divisions Thunderbirds as the sole liberators of Dachau it’s not historically accurate, it dishonors the real story of history and people like my grandfather that were there and have spent a lifetime living with the memories of horror give credit to the rainbow division there needs to be a movie made about the rainbow division in 1944 and 1945 they were pulled out of training early. sent over to France without experience no armor, no tanks no food, no winter clothing army took there bazookas to make modifications before defending the town of hatten my grandfather’s unit 42nd suffered a 66% casualty rate at hatten because of the genius planning by the war room. his unit was mauled But would fight battles on the Rhine nuenburg , liberation of Dachau Munich
