I felt it was a powerful movie but the messages it sent showed how self centered the characters were. In the end….why did we not see his mother. Did she disappear off of the face of the earth? Wasn’t her grief just as profound? Then you have the current wife telling the father to focus on his new family and “life goes on”. I thought that was so horrible to hear and that it was just said and the movie ends. There was no real learning of the pain Nicholas felt or appreciation of it. It was basically like she was saying he doesn’t matter because he’s dead. Each performance was incredible but the actual content was severely disappointing
