To convince you that the lead scientist is a genius, writers often include dialogue where a friend claims she is the most brilliant person they've ever met. This may be intended to be very persuasive. While this is meant to be convincing, as a scientist myself, I prefer to draw my own conclusions from intelligent conversations from the movie.
