Great informative stories of those involved in United, and other clubs, with so many parallels to today’s behaviours of owners and the FA/Football Leagues. A game that once belonged to the fans is so apparent during those years, through two world wars, and how it threw up the true determination of individuals to keep United going. Today’s younger fans will probably never realise how some of those local Manchester men were critical in keeping the red flag flying, even before Matt’s arrival. It’s a great insight into how people worked and lived through those years of the developing game.
