Although visually lavish, the film misses an opportunity to cast an honest, open light on Elvis & Priscilla’s complex relationship. The script is repetitive and shallow, and veers away from scrutinising the very controversial, historical and/or hard to understand issues that might make this story worth telling.

Nice enough people but they’re not charismatic, nor are they presenters, and it really shows. So this come across as a publicly-funded wealthy family’s jaunt of very little interest. What a waste of time and budget. BBC commissioners are tone-deaf and clueless at times.
