Loose storytelling, highly underutilised side characters, a generous sprinkling of what often looks like forced comedy and really randomly interspersed romantic songs, Bhool Bhulaiya is still a fun watch and I’ll tell you why. What makes the film truly watchable are the performances by Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit! The women are beautiful, graceful, gorgeous albeit the filmmaker doesn’t seem to have utilise their full talent. It’s still amazing to watch the two ladies fight, scream, scare and raise their arched eyebrows throughout in the film. Kartik Aryan continues to emulate Akshay Kumar throughout and if you know what that means you won’t be surprised to see him do this on repeat. But putting aside all the loopholes, the movie is a definite entertainer and scores high on jump scares, partially decent performances by the main characters, the 2000s nostalgia and some well timed plot twists!
