I watched the new movie in a theater and then the original on demand a few days later. The original with the richness of Bernstein score, the Greek tragedy ambiance and Robbins’s choreography is one of the greatest films ever. The New one is Spielberg's arrogance. That he could improve upon genius with rewriting the plot, order and staging of the songs, adding hip hop to the dance routines and undoing Bernstein’s magnificent orchestration is truly pathetic. Stick to shallow but entertaining Saturday afternoon adventure films Steve.
