I actually expected nothing less, the movie was lit!!!
The cast had more hits than misses. Perhaps the only miss I’d have long discussions over is the Riddler. Other than the interesting look, and his trickery should not be taken lightly, I wasn’t too sold on whether his design and even his voice were complete. It felt very Bane from Dark Knight Rises. I felt the Riddler persona could have been cleaned up slightly and done tighter—-but there is some good news: there is a fan theory out there that Barry Keoghan might be the actual villain! This of course is all theory, so rest assured this is not a spoiler of any kind. However if so, it does make some sense after watching the film. Anyway, as for the good, Robert Pattinson did phenomenal here for the niche Reeves needed. The Crow comes to mind at the intense gritty nature and strong presence. Those eyes lock onto several key moments and figures and nothing but a long gaze and long bass tones—-so engaging, so interesting, so frightening! I totally understand why the actor was the one they wanted for this style of film.
