Season 1 - The placement and editing of docu-drama is well handled, but in every episode there were significant parts of the dramatic plot-lines that were cliched and missed the mark of reality. The story-line suffered from a series of implausible "Yeah Right" moments that disengaged from the story being told.
Ex. - the captain pretending he was OK when he was badly injured and yet able to walk 16km and then to die,
The arrogance and hubris of the newbies who turned up to grow their hybrid plants and their poor attitude to the base commander was completely unreal.
The guy unclipping of the safety line to find the cable was an un-necessary cliche (audience manipulation dressed as dramatic tension).
Episode 6 finished with a scientist opening a door that was directly openable to the outside atmosphere without an airlock - really - is that the best that modern engineering/script writing can offer!
The documentary parts of the series are far more interesting whereas the drama more like a wet dream.
I look forward to the seeing whether the second series continues in the same vein or whether it goes boldly where none have gone before.
