I, sadly, have to agree with so many of the other reviews. I have read the entire book series 5 times and have watched most of the TV series, but find it difficult to engage. I don't enjoy the characters as much and feel they have made Jamie weaker relative to Claire. At any rate, this is a review of Bees so I wont go further into that.
I've read Bees twice now. First, immediately when it came out and second after rereading the entire series again. In the end, my assessment is of an ongoing "day in the life" with some moments of excitement, but it did not pull any pieces together or resolve open questions in the actual storyline. The 2 stars are because I do enjoy hearing about the daily life of characters I am so invested in. My overarching thought was that it was written for the TV audience to get caught up with the book series. The majority of the book was a recap of events from the prior books. I can only speculate whether DG used a ghost writer. I can imagine the publishers may have been applying pressure on her to push out another "promised" book amidst all her other obligations. It is unfortunate that it was just "filler" with no real substance. Perhaps these characters will help pull everything together, but I don't think many of them are of any real significance. Frankly, I thought Moby could have happily ended the series.
I hope DG, herself, writes what is supposed to be the last book. There are a lot of loose ends to tie up to satisfy her loyal audience. It will be a daunting task.
