Our book club of eight people gave an average rating of about five out of 10. So I’m being generous when I say three out of five. Parts of this were very good, but then they never went anywhere. I so wish the author had continued with the Cuba, revolutionary setting and written just that story. One of our members had read a bit more on how this got published, and apparently it was a series of short stories that are very loosely knit together. It definitely reads that way.
