I’m 70 years old, and I read the novel when it was published and saw Harrison Ford lead an impossibly talented cast in the 1990 movie. I’m trying really hard to like this miniseries, but it’s just not doing it for me yet, with the exception of Jake Gyllenhaal’s great performance. I’m guilty of comparing all of the other actors with the 1990 movie, and they aren’t—so far—meeting my expectations. I hope this series gets better as it goes along. I do hope that fans will see the original 1990 movie for some incredible acting, and a twist that no one saw coming!
