Why did they change the story and character personalities?? The producers and writers are to blame I suspect. The cast does their best, I'm sure.
This 2020 remake of the blockbuster 1978-1990 BBC tv series falls very short of the mark. I love the James Herriot book series All Creatures Great and Small, and I love all the characters introduced in those books. I've read those books many times over the past 4 decades.
Why, for example, did they portray Siegfried Farnon as a jerk who didn't want an assistant, and wanted to send Herriot packing before he even met him?? Siegfried Farnon was welcoming to Herriot from the beginning. Why didn't they explain Tristan was supposed to pick Herriot up from the train? Siegfried was mad at Tristan for his forgetfulness by not meeting Herriot. Why did they create this weird rivalry between Tristan and Herriot? Why did they bring the housekeeper forward and make her a main character? The first 2 episodes had me scrambling to purchase the original series!
