I never read the book, nor watched the original series. 99% of the people are complaining about Larry Underwood (gee, I wonder what their issue is), the fact that this isn't a word-for-word adaptation (God, that would be boring) or that it skips through time, which is perfectly fine and shouldn't be that confusing unless you're deliberately not paying attention.
