The first two episodes seemed sloppy to me. I realize that most modern procedurals are really light on anything close to proper procedures but oh boy, if detectives were anything like the MCs in this show IRL - savants who know every bit of obscure knowledge the city can throw at them on one hand, and sidekicks that lap it all up so eagerly on the other - criminals better watch out!
The show would be much better and more realistic as a snapshot of Canadian crime if there were some title cards at the end of the show telling us how low bail is set, how the criminals skipped bail, and in the odd convictions, how soon parole was granted and the murderers are walking the streets with protected identities. In Canada, felons' rights have better protection than the average citizen.
Cool to see the city in the background though, even if the protags speedwalk by it all so fast that a tour of the historic hotspots is over halfway through the season.
