Direct, quick, and detailed, this series always surprises you. Even the remote possibility of any of the scenarios ever happening is frightening! Joe Ledger is both reactive and thoughtful in his actions. He and those he works for/with are put in almost impossible positions as they act to stop the enemies of the US and humankind. Mr. Maberry is an artist at conversational writing and he keeps chapters short so the action is constantly moving, twisting and changing in logical, but unexpected ways. A great series. I am so happy to have discovered it by happenstance in a used book store.
