I tried not to analyze this or try to judge..... I believe he loved both women sincerely and honestly. It's believable and possible. Besides, the type of person he was, no way could he have left his wife, not in his DNA. Besides, The scenery and Kentaro makes it more than worthwhile. what a gifted actor!!! Says more without words .... For me, the movie should have ended when he died. Nothing after was meaningful nor necessary. Now that I've seen this several times, I start crying immediately....from when the wife cries in the car.. By the way, the feelings you get is not cheating, for heavens sake. You can't help the feeling!!! When it turns into action, that's cheating.

Yes, I cried and cried, mostly because Kdramas have the most soulful and moving OSTs. Before even getting into the story, I was crying..... such good therapy for me.

25 year old teacher and a 15 year old student?? Why wouldn't a 15 year old boy not fall in love with a beautiful 25 year old teacher?? She let it go on and that's morally unacceptable in my opinion.

This was one of two Kdrama I started with. After that I spent a year watching every Kdrama on Viki nd Netflix. When I came back to watch it again a year later, I realized that this is THE BEST KDRAMA available today bar none. The story was sincere and believable, the acting was superb, and the OST A+. Has to go down as a CLASSIC. By the way, I watched this without knowing any of the actors altho Park Bo Gum's cameo appearance at the end was delightful.

I have never laughed (chuckled) so much watching a Kdrama. Kudos to the writers. Both of them are too honest, too selfish, too sensitive, too lovable, too imperfect! The way the ML come to realize his flaws and how selfish he was, was revealed perfectly. My only complaint would be the flashbacks: just too often and too many. Were also repeated too many times. However, all is forgiven because the it was DELIGHTFUL to watch!!

Nam Jou Hyuk (Nam Do Sun) cannot measure up to Kim Soon Ho(Han JiPyung). Not often but this is one time the writers got it all wrong. No way See Dal Me(Bae Suzy) would choose Nam Do Sun over Kim Soon Ho. Intelligence, looks, heart, every area, Kim Soon Ho outshines Nam You Hyuk. Plus the young Han Ji Pyung in episode 1 was adorable and the story should have been about him and See Dal Mi..... shame.....

Discovered Park Bo Gum in Encounter. Decided to watch everything he was in. Not too many, but Record of Youth was very very good. Korean dramas offer such great OST, the constant music that accompanies the drama intensifies all the feelings evoked by the story. Definitely one of the reasons Kdrama has caught on like wildfire internationally can be explained with the music. Another strength of this drama is that it is very realistic. Many Kdrama has screaming and yelling and physicality involved that for me takes away from the story. This drama is very believable and shines BECAUSE it is very simply told and done very well. I would say Encounter and Record of Youth would be a good introduction if you are interested in joining the Kdrama bandwagon.

This drama is 5 stars+++ Nam Yoo Hyuk shines, all the amazing emotions shown on his face.... Just one comment: absolutely the worst translated subtitles. The translations pretty much took all the flavor of the Korean-ness out. Many instances of the translations being outright incorrect. Such a Shame. The Poor viewers who had to depend on it because they did not understand Korean, got shortchanged big time.
