Having done Mao 101 and 102 at Uni I wanted to try to build on my Te reo and bought book 2. I haven't found it as helpful as I hoped. I think to use this book, you need much more ability than I have for learning language. It jumps ahead of itself as if the writer gets bored with a steady-as-she goes approach. At book two level, a learner has very narrow limits with the language and too often, I find I am expected to be able to translate sentences well beyond my ability level. At the moment I am just cherry-picking my way through the book to get value. I'm 70, pakeha, male, not the best language learning profile I know, so it may just be my response that is not so positive.
