Neither of them deserved such an ending..Especially after i read garden of light, Eiji never moved on from ash at all, yet Ash's ending was so realistic but he never belonged to Eiji's world, they were so different yet were what the other desperately needed. Maybe in another timeline they could've been together. But also i personally think this was a way of Ash being able to be set free. Think about everything he's been through. The friends he's lost, The physical, mental abuse. the rape. all of it. No matter what, no matter where he would go, it would be tattooed into his mind,ingrained there. i'd like to think be was finally free from all of the pain because of this. And maybe Eiji and Ash never physically meet again. But as Eiji said in his letter, His soul would always be with him. This theory calms me a bit, and at least it’s a little more beautiful. Besides that I loved it.
