Honestly, Elemental is nowhere near Disney’s best work! I wouldn’t consider it to be a good movie if you’re older than 10 years old. It’s generic, basic plot and characters that feel flat and unfinished.
The plot is predictable and the animation is a touch uncanny. This movie feels like it was released too early— the animation quality is fantastic, but the story, characters, world building and general sense of ‘pull’ leaves viewers wanting more.
I didn’t feel any connection to the story or characters— none of the invigorating moments sparked any sort of emotion.
This movie isn’t particularly bad. If you’re looking to burn money on tickets, here you go. If you’re looking for an interesting, new take on Romeo and Juliet, I wouldn’t waste my time.
